Here we go again!

The Mzungus will soon be on their way to Kampala, Uganda for a 2 week missions trip starting September 2nd, 2008 and ending Sept 13th, 2008. I have included our agenda. There are a whole bunch of new folks going on this trip along with Judy and Bill who are returning to Uganda on their second trip. Let me introduce the 2008 team to you:

Donna Escoffier is currently a Business Coach at Buffini and Company where she helps people to reach their potential in business and in life. She was a church worship leader for 13 years and helped launch a Celebrate Recovery ministry where she served as worship leader and grief group facilitator. Donna is thrilled to be making this first trip to Africa and to have the opportunity to teach and worship with the people of Uganda.

Charity Marino currently teaches Sunday school to preschool aged children where she feels that it has shown her much about God’s character: His love, mercy, and patience. In addition, she has been volunteering with the high school ladies in youth group for about two years now and loves every minute of it. Charity is excited to be making her first trip to Africa and to be able to show and share in God’s love with the women and children of Uganda.

Dr. Bill and Mary Brown bring a rich background in ministry to this trip. Bill, on his third mission to Uganda, has a Masters in Theology from Dallas Theol. Seminary, and a Doctorate. in Educ.. After retiring from UCSD, he now serves at R.J. Donovan State Prison as the Protestant Chaplain. Mary, a successful business owner, serves on church and community boards, leads Bible studies and teaches leadership. They are united in their passion for the people of Uganda.

Reg & Nancy Cowie moved to Paarl South Africa in Nov. 2005. They have strong corporate and church leadership experience. In South Africa, they work with Monte Christo Ministries and teach bible studies in the townships. They work with 800 children and have been training up youth leaders. Reg teaches inside the Drakenstein prison working with both medium security juveniles and maximum security adults teaching about Christ.

Bill Fink and Judy Stewart were recently married and are making their second mission trip to Uganda. Both have extensive business and church leadership backgrounds. Bill currently serves on the boards of Pastors to Prisoners, Global Partners in Development, and The Help You Grow Foundation. Judy also serves on the Board of GPD and on the Board of Strongtower Financial, the largest church lender in the United States

Our Agenda

September 2nd: Board plane for Uganda.
September 3rd: Arrive in Entebbe.
September 4th: Day of rest and welcome dinner. Meetings with Pastor Bernard and Shane Gilbert to coordinate the rest of the week. Be reunited with Reg and Nancy Cowie.
September 5th: Women to visit Thread of Life Sewing School & review financials. Women also to visit Light of the World Christian Workers Assoc. for microlending program. Men to work on a Prison Ministry with Pastor Bernard. In the evening, the women will attend a Women’s Outreach for the women of the slums; Donna Escoffier to sing worship.
September 6th: Women - All Day Women’s Conference. Men - Prison Ministry and Crusade at Gospel Tabernacle.
September 7th: Church & rest. Women to meet with a group of young women and do one on one mentoring.
September 8th: Go to Buvuma Island to help dedicate a school built with funds from Daybreak Community Church. This school is the only one on the island.
September 9th - 11th: Pastor training, Leadership training, and a Business Startup Seminar. Three, two hour sessions will occur over three days. We expect over three hundred pastors from all over Uganda to attend.
September 12th: Fly back to U.S.A.
September 13th: Arrive in the U.S.A.
